Rosgvardia has blocked the doors to the "Italmas" shopping center in Izhevsk. This happened after a tenant refused to vacate the premises for the needs of combat drone production. This was reported on February 17 by the "Udmurtia against corruption” Telegram channel.
Access to the "Italmas" shopping center has been blocked by Rosgvardia and the owner’s representatives who are trying to gain control of the "Izhevskie Termy" health and recreation center. They say that it must be done because of violations of fire regulations in the rented premises. The tenant complains about interfering with the commercial process at the center. The owner’s representative threatens to ask the police to evacuate the customers.
The owner of the recreation center refuses to leave the premises, because of the owner’s intention to pass them over to a combat drone manufacturer. In addition, the entrepreneur claims not to have received a termination letter. Local residents believe the business is being pressured to move out by using sideways means. In early February 2023, during a fire drill, all visitors, including the recreation center customers, were evacuated.
At the end of 2022, the new owner of the shopping center decided to transfer the property to the needs of a combat drone manufacturer. A petition against this plan was signed by over 5,000 Izhevsk residents. But the authorities supported the transfer. In February, access to the center got restricted and the tenants began receiving letters informing them of unilaterally terminated contracts.
