In Samara, policemen stopped a car with activists of the Council of Mothers and Wives. They allegedly searched the women for drugs and then took them to the department. The council’s representatives reported this in its Telegram channel.
The police stopped the car of the council’s representatives on the evening of December 8. It is unknown where the women were going. According to them, there was a “tip-off” on the activists' car. They held a broadcast in the Telegram channel, during which traffic police officers examined the car for the presence of drugs.
After the inspection, the police took activist Olga Tsukanova and two other women to the Syzran police department. The reason is still unclear.
UPD: On December 9, the council reported that the police had drawn up a protocol on the dissemination of extremist materials (20.29 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation) against one of the activists, Svetlana Belova. According to Belova, the reason allegedly was a quote by the Jewish spiritual leader, Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, published on her social network page. The woman did not explain what the post was about, but noted that, according to the police, the quote was recognized as extremist in 2002. The other women were released without a protocol.
After the mobilization’s beginning in Russia, women from different regions created the Council of Wives and Mothers Association. They demand that the Ministry of Defense stop and no longer allow violations during the mobilization, withdraw conscripts from the border with Ukraine, and prohibit the use of nuclear weapons.
On November 23, the women came to Moscow for a round table, where they invited Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. None of them came. Before the round table, its participants reported surveillance.
