Irina Turbina said she had been fired abruptly. Her last day at work was June 19.
"The uncertainty about the future and having to look for a new job really frighten me," Turbina wrote on the Telegram channel dedicated to her son's prosecution.
She had earlier moved from Orel to Perm Krai to live closer to the penal colony where her son was serving his sentence.
In June 2024, Arseny Turbin, who was still a schoolboy at the time, was sentenced to five years in a penal colony for participating in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of Russia's Criminal Code). He was accused of trying to contact the Freedom of Russia Legion, distributing leaflets reading "Do you need a president like this?", and creating a Telegram channel called Free Russia.
In February 2026, a new criminal case was opened against Turbin. He was charged with participating in mass riots (Part 2 of Article 212 of Russia's Criminal Code) in connection with a riot at the juvenile correctional facility where he was serving his sentence.
