Residents of Dagestan express their willingness to adopt Palestinian orphans and have presented this proposal to local authorities, as reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Dagestan on November 24.
In late November, 150 refugees from Gaza are expected to arrive in the Republic of Dagestan. Local entrepreneurs are already contacting authorities, offering assistance in providing clothing to the incoming Palestinians. There is also a significant number of individuals ready to adopt Palestinian children.
“Currently, detailed discussions on this matter are not possible. Upon their arrival, each individual, whether an adult or a child, will undergo a social assessment, and based on that, we will proceed further,” explained the press office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Dagestan.
In November, refugees from Palestine were resettled in the Moscow and Kaluga regions. The regions of Chechnya and Bashkortostan are also prepared to host them.
Dagestanis in Russia stand out as fervent supporters of Palestine in its military conflict with Israel. They have organized protests and car rallies, and there have been instances of children burning images of the Israeli flag. On October 29, approximately 1500 people gathered at Makhachkala airport, awaiting a flight from Israel, and searched for Jews among the passengers in the parked cars. Subsequently, at least 44 Dagestanis were arrested on charges related to mass disorder (Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
