Ambulance drivers in Bashkortostan achieve insurance payouts for the transportation of patients with coronavirus

The Judicial Board for Civil Cases of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Bashkortostan satisfied the demands of ambulance drivers at the district hospital in the city of Birsk and decided to issue them insurance payouts for the transportation of patients with coronavirus. The drivers were refused the payouts, because they were outsourced in 2016. The Deystvie (‘action’) Trade Union of Health Workers announced the court's decision.

Six years ago, officials outsourced the drivers in Birsk; the companies in which the drivers work have never indexed their salaries since then. In 2020, the president appointed insurance payouts to health workers and ambulance drivers for working with patients with coronavirus. The drivers reported that their vacation pay was 8 thousand rubles, which were paid after a vacation or on its last day. Since January 2022, the management has stopped charging advance payments.

The Social Insurance Fund and the Drive Logistics LLC Company, which provides services for the transportation of patients to the district hospital in Birsk, decided that drivers did not participate in the provision of emergency medical care and, therefore, did not have any rights to insurance payouts. Together with the trade union, the drivers filed appeals with the governor and the prosecutor, and also appealed to the court. It took their side.


In early July, the Deystvie Trade Union helped health workers from Smolensk Oblast achieve a salary recalculation — the paramedics went on strike in order to restore their rights. During the inspection, it turned out that due to the lack of staff, the hospital management had involved the paramedics in working part-time, including on weekends. At the same time, the health workers were not paid incentive and compensation payments. For several months, each employee was illegally withheld from 9 to 13 thousand rubles. On July 12, the health workers were given payslips with the salary recalculation.
