The court changed pre-trial restraint for human rights advocate Gregory Winter from Cherepovets in a case of fakes about the army. He is currently under house arrest instead of a pre-trial detention facility until November 27. The OVD-Info Project reported this on October 19.

The court appointed human rights advocate Gregory Winter house arrest until November 27 in the case of fakes about the army because of his posts on vk.com about the events in Bucha. He had been in a pre-trial detention facility since September and complained about the conditions. According to Winter, the temperature in his cell dropped to 4–6 degrees at night. This made him deaf in his left ear.

In addition, Gregory Winter has been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. He was running out of his own supply of insulin in the pre-trial detention facility, and its management could not provide the medication. In early October, the Memorial Human Rights Society announced a fundraiser for the activist’s medicines. The money was raised in less than a day.

Gregory Winter heads the Za Prava Cheloveka (‘for human rights’) Movement's Vologda branch. In 2021, a criminal case for fakes about coronavirus was opened against him. He was arrested because of his failure to appear in court, the activist was on sick leave at that time. Later, the court declared the arrest illegal.
