The police in Arkhangelsk opened a case under Article 6.1.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation against the cashier of the Magnit Supermarket for beating LGBT activists. Ekaterina Mokhovikova, a lawyer for the Rakurs (‘Angle’) LGBT+ Initiative Group, told 7x7 about this.

The cashier attacked Aton Ford and Alexander Kost’, the administrators of Rakurs, on June 20 after having seen them kiss. The activists filed a report to the police and reported it in their community on vk.com. According to them, the man hit them and smashed the phone display of one of the activists. The report of Rakurs says that the attacker explained to the police that his actions had been caused by hatred towards gay people. The activists and their lawyer are waiting for the case materials to be sent to the court.

The Rakurs LGBT+ organization has existed in Arkhangelsk since 2007. It provides psychological and legal support to members of the LGBT + community. In 2014, Rakurs was declared a foreign agent.
