The prosecutor’s office has deemed the 20,000 ruble salary (approximately 210 USD) of Ural rescuers as legitimate. This was reported by URA.RU on April 16.

The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by employees of the Sverdlovsk station of Avialesookhrana (Avia Forest Security). Workers from three divisions recorded a video appeal to Governor Evgeny Kuybyshev, citing low salaries, poor-quality workwear, and issues with firefighting equipment. During the low season, rescuers earn 20,000 rubles, with salaries rising to up to 80,000 rubles (approximately 850 USD) during major fires.

Head of Avialesookhrana, Alexander Petrov, stated that the prosecutor’s office found no irregularities regarding the payouts.

In 2023, Sverdlovsk Oblast was heavily affected by fires. At the peak, over 100,000 hectares were burning. The settlement of Sosva was almost completely destroyed, with 110 houses burned and 2 people killed.
