According to he organizers of the investigative seminar from the Glasnost Defense Foundation, the unknowns committed a series of minor provocations and attacks on journalists of the Investigation School in Yoshkar-Ola.

One of the moderators, journalist Galina Sidorova said that at about 2 am on April 27 unidentified people broke a window on the first floor of a private guest house of Investigation Schools classes. A dead black and white rat was later found under the window. According to Sidorova, the morning before, when she visited the guest house, a young man who was passing along an empty street threw a plastic jar filled with zelyonka in her back.

Founder of the organization of investigative journalists Grigory Pasko reported on provocations in Yoshkar-Ola on his Facebook page:

'Another school of investigative journalism — in Yoshkar-Ola this time — was threatened with closure again. Yesterday, unknown people poured zelyonka on the school lecturer, member of the Commonwealth of Investigative Journalists Galina Sidorova. Tonight there was a robbery attack on the house where Galina lived: someone broke windows with cobblestones, poured zelyonka, and threw up a dead rat. Local police find out the details of the incident.'

The country guest house was equipped with video cameras. Now police officers find out the details of the incident. Owners of a private hotel also appealed to them.


Investigators seminar of was held in Syktyvkar in November, 2016. The seminar was disrupted three times. On November 8, unknown people informed the police about a bomb in the building where the event was taking place. On November 10, a fire alarm was triggered during the seminar, and electricity was cut off. Organizers of the seminar, journalists Grigory Pasko and Igor Korolkov received threats: Korolkov received SMS with the advice to ‘stay at home’, and Pasko — an envelope with powder. On November 11, police officers visited the seminar: they allegedly received a message about person detained in the lecture room.
