In Ryazan Oblast, a 23-year-old man was deprived of his acquired Russian citizenship after he refused military service, as reported by the region’s division of the Investigative Committee on April 4.
A 23-year-old man from Tajikistan, residing in the Skopinsky District, had his acquired Russian citizenship revoked. Investigators found that he failed to report to the military enlistment office after receiving a summons.
The man was subsequently found guilty of evading military service and fined. This verdict in the criminal case served as one of the grounds for revoking his Russian citizenship, obtained in 2022.
The resident of Skopinsky District had his passport confiscated on April 3, and he will soon be deported from Russia.
December 2023 marked the first case of Russian citizenship revocation due to military service evasion. Two brothers who arrived in Russia from a neighboring country and resided in Chelyabinsk Oblast were deprived of their acquired citizenship. They allegedly provided false information to avoid military service and 'came to the attention of the police' during raids on migrants.
