The Omsk contract recruitment office is seeking women to work with the Ministry of Defense. The positions available include cooks and doctors who will be deployed to various regions across Russia for a minimum duration of one year. On July 6, a 7x7 journalist obtained details about this service.
Advertisements from the Ministry of Defense targeting women recently surfaced on Omsk Telegram channels. The ads appeal to doctors, paramedics, nurses, and cooks who would be willing to "stand alongside men in the same line of duty." Upon contacting the Omsk military registration and enlistment office, the 7x7 journalist was informed that women under the age of 50 could sign contracts for a minimum of one year without any vacation time. Nurses and cooks are not required to possess specialized education in their respective fields.
The specific deployment destinations for female recruits remain unknown. It is only confirmed that they would serve in Russia. In 2022, the authorities declared the annexation of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions in Ukraine to Russia.

The military office employee could not provide information regarding the women's pay. However, they would be eligible for gubernatorial payments of 100,000 rubles ($1,092) in the first month and 50,000 rubles ($546) for each subsequent month. A lump-sum presidential payment of 195,000 rubles ($2,130) is also granted. Those interested can submit applications at the selection center for military service under contract.
In June 2022, the Arkhangelsk mayor's office posted announcements on their website regarding contract service opportunities for women. These positions did not require women to be in the reserve and offered a salary of 200,000 rubles ($2,185). Contracts were established for a minimum term of three months.
The Defense Ministry does not disclose the number of female soldiers currently serving or provide any information regarding casualties among women during the war in Ukraine.
