The police detained Alexander Donskoy near the place of an unauthorized luxury car rally in Moscow. According to the ex-mayor, he was just passing by and was not going to participate in the event. He announced this on social networks.
Alexander Donskoy wrote on Instagram that he was going to an Orthodox exhibition. According to him, he was detained and beaten by police officers, then taken to the Tagansky District Department of Internal Affairs. The ex-mayor said that he had a hypertensive crisis in the department and the ambulance was called twice.
«I don’t know how to drive a car, I don’t have a car,» Donskoy wrote. «Izvestia», citing the ex-mayor’s lawyer, reported that Donskoy was charged with an article on violating public order.
The raсe was supposed to take place on August 28. It was organized by cryptoblogger Alexey Khitrov, who did not coordinate the event with the local authorities.
The owners of sports cars planned to stick «Rich and Successful» inscriptions on luxury cars and drive around the city center. The police detained the participants of the event (the exact number of detainees is unknown), and the cars were evacuated to an impoundment lot.
Except Donskoy and participants in the race, the police detained correspondents from «Shot» and «Zvezda».
Alexander Donskoy is known for his outrageous ideas. For example, in 2020, he flew an LGBT flag over the Kremlin in response to the destruction of his gallery of social tolerance.
In the end of June, Donskoy announced that he would release Russian Coke with the Virgin Mary on the packaging. The residents of Arkhangelsk complained to the police about the ex-mayor because of this. He was accused of «insulting to the feelings of believers» and was called a «Satanist».
