In Kirov, the police drew up a report against Vadim Ananyin, the head of the local branch of the People's Freedom Party, on holding an uncoordinated rally on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions. Ananyin said this on his page on vk.com.
The Prayer of Memory was held in a square near the drama theater on October 29. For the first time in 29 years, the Kirov City Hall did not negotiate a picket in memory of the victims of political repressions there. Officials referred to the sanitation situation in the city and the fact that picketers would interrupt performances. During the rally, the police did not detain anyone, but later drew up a report against Ananyin on violating the procedure for conducting a rally.
“I believe that participants of peaceful assemblies should not be afraid of being persecuted by the state for their participation in them. The European Court concluded that even the threat of prosecution for participating in an uncoordinated rally was a violation of Article 11 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. <...> I did not regret a minute of the rally in memory of the victims of Soviet repressions that I held on October 29,” said Vadim Ananyin.
He intends to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
