Shies' defender was sentenced to compulsory community service for discharging a spray in a security guard’s face

A court in the village of Yarensk in Arkhangelsk Oblast has appointed 200 hours of compulsory community service to activist Mikhail Gabov on charges of beating a guard at the construction of a landfill at station Shies. Public page "Pomorye is Not a Dump!" on vk.com reported this.

Investigators allege that on June 4, 2019, Mikhail Gabov discharged pepper spray in the faces of the Security Guarantor Private Company’s employees at station Shies. The charge is based on the objective of the injured guard and witnesses — his colleagues. Gabov is going to appeal the verdict.

Activist Nikita Baryshnikov was sentenced to 300 hours of compulsory community service in a similar count in November 2019.
