On May 8, pensioners of Veliky Novgorod gathered at the social service center's door to receive grocery baskets. During the day, the number of people in a close proximity to each other varied from 10 to 50.
To get a grocery basket, one needs to call the social service center and leave an application. The groceries will be delivered home then. Residents of Novgorod explained to 7x7 that they had failed to reach the social institution by phone, so they had to come there.
- They claim you could always get through. But the telephone was in use all morning. I don't know why, maybe they took the phone off. The announcement on the door says: "Quarantine", it has appeared only today, - one of the visitors said.
A young man volunteered to help the pensioners. He got through to the social institution and began to give personal data of those who wanted to get grocery baskets.
The Prosecutor's office of Novgorod Oblast reported the beginning of the investigation of the citizens having violated social distance.
— The Prosecutor's office of the region is going to analyze compliance with the requirements of social and epidemiological legislation while providing social supporting measures to citizens. In addition, the investigation is going to assess the actions of responsible officials for committing a crime under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Provision of Services Which Do Not Meet Safety Standards), — the Prosecutor's office reported.
If the department finds grounds to initiate a criminal case, it will transfer the materials to the Investigative Committee.
