A resident of Smolensk made a video based on the Terminator movie in honor of the three-year anniversary of the pit in the yard of residential building №54 on Gagarin Avenue. The publication was posted on November 20 on vk.com in community «The Main of Smolensk».
In the description of the video, the author of the publication noted: "It is 2019, the federal Formation of the comfortable urban realm project within the framework of the national Housing and the urban environment projects is going on across the country. They always „screw things up“ in Smolensk…»
In the video, a driver sees a lightning bolt, his car stalls and does not start. He looks out the window and sees a naked "terminator" appear in the pit, get up and walk down the road, and after the voiceover phrase "Hasta la vista, baby", he steps into another pit. The video is accompanied by music of composer Brad Fiedel from the Terminator movie.
The video was published by Alexey Lan’ko from Smolensk on his page on vk.com in early October. He told 7x7 that he had filmed a replica of the Terminator scene with friends. According to him, after he had published the video on the Internet, the local Deputy had a talk with him and the pit was closed in a month:
- Kirill Bystrov, the Deputy of my district, sent me a PM: we will deal with it [the pit]. They actually have, however, they used crushed asphalt, it will serve till spring. Patching is a rush job measure, I worked as a roadman. These pits will get even bigger by spring. I am very glad that they fixed it, the method is questionable, but, most importantly, it worked.
Kirill Bystrov, the Deputy of the Smolensk regional Duma from the Communist party, told 7x7 that he was away on a business trip and would be able to comment on the situation only the following week.
