Activists of environmental movement "42" held a flash mob dedicated to the anniversary of protests against the construction of the landfill at Shies station in Arkhangelsk Oblast. They lied down on concrete slabs near the station and made a phrase Stop Shies, which is used by eco-activists as a hashtag, with their bodies. The correspondent of "7x7" reported it on July 23.
In total, 30 people have participated in the action, 18 of them have formed the inscription using their bodies.
Activists of the movement came up with an action on the anniversary of the protests at Shies in order to unite people. It was attended by people who do not belong to "Movement 42". The action is a statement: the construction must be completely stopped.
Construction of the landfill at Shies station in Lensky district of Arkhangelsk Oblast began in the summer of 2018 — the work is carried out by Moscow company Technopark. It is assumed that the landfill will accept household waste from Moscow and Moscow Oblast. Residents of Arkhangelsk Oblast and the Komi Republic opposed the landfill and organized a tent camp, eco-watch, near the construction site. People living in eco-watch, try to stop the illegal, in their opinion, construction of the facility. TASS news agency reported on July 23 that Russian President Vladimir Putin had instructed to study the opinion of local residents on the landfill construction in Arkhangelsk Oblast until September 1.
Environmental movement "42" is an association of people named in honor of Article 42 of the Constitution of Russia ("Everyone shall have the right to a favorable environment"). The movement defends environmental rights and interests of residents of Arkhangelsk Oblast.
