Investigation concerning Pskov journalist Svetlana Prokopieva was extended by three months and involved the fourth investigator. Her defense and investigation have prepared their examinations. On June 3, Prokopieva wrote about this on her Facebook.
Investigation of the case concerning justification of terrorism on the radio, of which Prokopieva was accused as a host of Pskov «Echo of Moscow», will last until September 5 and will take seven months.
«What they are going to do all this time, is a mystery to me. I also know the following about the investigation: I already have the fifth investigator, I’m not acquainted with him yet, as well as with the fourth one (already, because he was replaced quite quickly). The third one (he had made a search and conducted interrogations), preferred, according to available information, more worthy pastime, rather than to persecute the journalist for beliefs, namely, he went on paternity leave,» — Prokopieva wrote.
Her lawyers prepared two examinations, for which Svetlana Prokopieva had collected money on the Internet. The investigation, according to Prokopieva, prepared its own examination, she has not seen it yet. The journalist's theses, in which the investigation saw the justification of terrorism, Prokopieva herself calls «a column about the repressive state». She is sure that workers of law enforcement structures carried out a search in order to get the drafts of her journalistic investigations and dictaphone records of her conversations with sources.
In February, 2019, the investigators came to Svetlana Prokopieva’s apartment in Pskov with a search warrant and confiscated all her electronic equipment. She was suspected of justifying terrorism after the publication of a radio broadcast, in which she had discussed the causes of the Arkhangelsk FSB office bombing (a juvenile anarcho-сommunist blew up a homemade bomb and died).
Prokopieva's lawyers tried to appeal on the legality of the search in her house, Pskov readers gathered for a rally in her support, the OSCE became interested in her case.
