The historian and Yury Dmitriev underwent sexological and psychiatric examination in St. Petersburg. After the accusations of pedophilia, the doctors did not find any mental abnormalities in him. This was reported on November 29 by Dmitriev’s lawyer Victor Anufriev.
"I already said two months ago that everything is fine. Actually, this examination confirmed the examination at the Serbsky Institute [conducted the first examination]," Anufriev said. "He was recognized as mentally healthy — that he did not have pedophilic inclinations, sexual deviations, and that he is straight. How already there the court will judge this examination, We'll wait for judge’s decision."
The next court session is scheduled for December 18. The case is considered in closed session.
The head of the Karelian branch of the Memorial Society and the researcher of the Stalinist repressions, Yury Dmitriev, was accused of producing pornographic pictures of his adopted daughter. On April 5, 2018 the Petrozavodsk court acquitted him after the Serbsky Center did not find any deviations. The Supreme Court of Karelia cancelled this decision on June 14. Yury Dmitriev was detained on June 27 again. The investigative committee opened a new criminal case under the article on “sexual assault of a minor nature”. At the request of lawyer Victor Anufriev, both cases were merged into one. After the charges, Dmitriev was convoyed to St. Petersburg for a psychiatric examination.
Dmitriev was one of the first to find the graves of executed prisoners in Sandarmokh. On October 3, a district court arrested the director of the local museum and the keeper of the Sandarmokh tract Sergey Koltyrin and his acquaintance Yevgeny Nosov, on charges of pedophilia.
