Former deputy coordinator of Navalny’s headquarters in Kostroma, Alexander Zykov, went on a hunger strike in the temporary detention facility. He announced this on May 9 on his Facebook page.
According to Zykov, on May 7, before the inauguration of Vladimir Putin, officers of the detention center declared "an information boycott": they withheld access to the phone calls, meetings with friends, forbade the facility staff from accepting any requests from him.
"The Kostroma prosecutor refused to respond to my requests for numerous violations of the rules of detention. And the appeal that I filed six days ago has not yet been considered in court," Zykov explained the reason of his decision.
He has been refusing food for more than two days. We could not get in touch with Zykov's lawyer Anton Mikhailov promptly.
On April 30, 2018, the court sentenced Alexander Zykov to 15-day arrest for evading community service. He got the same punishment on April 13.
Alexander Zykov was sentenced to 120 hours of community service for participation in an uncoordinated action "Strike of voters" on January 28.
