Supporters of Alexey Navalny together with local oppositionists were detained in Petrozavodsk. On October 1, activists walked around the city and distributed leaflets, the police stopped them to check documents.
According to the official representative Kornyshov, two employees of Rosgvardia approached to check documents — he was the only one who had a passport. The police suspected the activists of holding an unauthorized event and called reinforcement of the criminal investigation.
'There was nothing special, no shocking detentions. Everything was rather polite. But it was surprising that three cars and six employees of different departments were wasting their working time for such nonsense. Employees of the national guard did not understand what was happening, why it was necessary to detain us,' Kornyshov said.
Several people were brought to the MVD department. The police examined the leaflets and released everyone without a protocol.
The headquarters of Navalny was opened in Petrozavodsk on August 27, 2017.
