Civil activist Yuri Shakeev launched an coordinated picket on the Republic Square in the capital of Chuvashia. On May 19 Shakeev reported on his Facebook page, that he coordinated his picket for four days until May 23 to draw the attention of residents to the problems of his region.

 

Yuri specified the problems he was planning to cover: resettlement of Chuvashia residents into areas unsuitable for comfortable living, criminal schemes for the municipal land conveyance, ‘family' and questionable elections of commissioners for human and children's rights, unemployment, problems of the republic's municipal enterprises, corruption, protection of business by power structures, non-observance of citizens' constitutional rights and others.


On March 9, Yuri Shakeev came out with a single picket against nepotism in the regional government and drew attention to appointment of the niece of the wife of the head of Chuvashia Mikhail Ignatyev the ombudsman for children's rights. On May 18, activists of the Chuvash ‘Open Russia’ wrote an appeal to Tatiana Moskalkova, the human rights representative in Russia. She is empowered to approve a new Chuvash ombudsman, father of the head of the regional department of Rosgvardia.
