A child drowned in a flood in Altai Krai. Starting April 1, a state of emergency has been declared in the region, as announced by the local Investigative Committee.

A six-year-old boy died in the Ashchegul settlement of the Mikhailovsky District. On April 1, he was with his friend near a trench dug to facilitate water flow. The child stumbled, fell into the trench, and drowned.

The Investigative Committee for Altai Krai initiated a criminal case for causing death by negligence, as reported by the 'Siberian Express' media outlet.


Mikhailovsky District is one of the areas that have suffered the most from the natural disaster. According to Governor Viktor Tomenko, 42 locations across the republic have been affected by the flood, totaling 943 household plots and 478 houses. Currently, there is no access to the Rakity settlement. Altai Krai has introduced a state of emergency.
