In Russia, 180 criminal cases have already been initiated under the article on fakes about the army (207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Some Russians have become involved in several cases under this article, lawyer Pavel Chikov said on December 22.
In total, 146 Russians have become involved in criminal cases on fakes about the army. Most cases were initiated in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Altai and Krasnodar Territories, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Rostov, Kirov Oblasts, and Ingushetia.
In the spring and autumn, new cases were initiated almost every workday.
21 cases appeared because of publications that Russians made outside of Russia. For example, Prokhor Protasov, the author of Kirov's anthem who lives in the USA, will be tried in absentia under this article.
