Resident of Oryol Alexander Fomenko, supporter of an opposition politician and nationalist Vyacheslav Maltsev, was placed in a detention center in the case of extremism; his friend Mikhail Rosin posted this information on his page in "VKontakte" on March 1.

Law enforcement officers detained Oryol activist and conducted search in his apartment on February 8, but this became known only after friends of the suspect visited his family. Personal VK page of activist Fomenko was blocked on the basis of the General Prosecutor's Office claim from 20 February 2017.

Activist Mikhail Rosin told «7x7» details of his friend's case. According to him, Fomenko is in jail by a court decision, probably since February 8th.

'Unfortunately, we have no lawyer, no one to get access to documents of the case, to understand what articles he was accused under, because all the information about him now is from the words of his mother. At the moment I'm trying to draw attention to his case, to find an independent lawyer. His mother said that he is definitely under Article 280 ["Public calls for extremist action"]. Then she went to meet him in the detention center, and he said that he was accused of Article 150 [ "Involvement of a minor in the commission of an offense"] and 282 ["Inciting hatred or enmity"]. According to his mother, Article 280 was imputed for the song of extremist content. I don't know what song exactly. Unfortunately, it is impossible to call his mother right now, she was eight months pregnant when I saw her. Alexander as an activist was involved in pickets against the monument to Ivan the Terrible, in agitation for Parnas in the elections to the State Duma. Alexander's father asked me not to interfere in the situation, he said that we were directly responsible for his detention.

Alexander Fomenko operated a nationalist channel on YouTube.
