Today, more than 30 anarchists and antifascists of the Komi capital held a memorial event to honor Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova. Let us recall that in 2009 in the central area of Moscow the lawyer and journalist of "Novaya Gazeta" were killed by nationalists Nikita Tikhonov and Yevgenia Khasis. Markelov and Baburova actively participated in the anti-fascist movement and defended those who uphold the anti-fascist ideology.

Participants of the event — more than 30 people — gathered at noon behind the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. They were observed by several police officers, some of them were capturing on video.

Around 12 a.m. the protesters went to the "Eternal Light" memorial.

Directly at the monument one of the activists gave a short speech in which he urged not to forget the murder of Markelov and Baburova. The participants paid tribute to civil activists with a minute of silence.

“It's more a memorial event than a public one. It is held every year on January 19 — the date memorable for all anti-fascists. We remember our fallen ideological comrades and remind ourselves of the need to fight,” the participant commented on the event.

After that the young people laid flowers and went away.
